Robert is an architect and Principal at Epstein Joslin + Picardy Architects, where he contributes to the leadership of the firm and guides the design, coordination, and execution of many of EJP’s cultural, educational, performing arts, and residential projects. With more than twenty years of experience, Robert brings a broad perspective to projects that require careful integration of design vision, technical resolution, consultant coordination, and client goals.

Robert joined Epstein Joslin Architects in 2006, four years after the founding of the firm, and quickly became involved in the design and execution of many of EJP’s defining projects. He contributed to the design of the Shalin Liu Performance Center for Rockport Music, one of the firm’s most recognized performing arts buildings, and served as lead designer for Floating Peak House. His work reflects an interest in architecture that is both expressive and carefully resolved, balancing the experiential qualities of space with the practical demands of construction, performance, and long-term use.

Robert has been integral to the realization of several of the firm’s significant cultural and performing arts projects, including the Conrad Prebys Performing Arts Center for La Jolla Music Society, Groton Hill Music Center, The Welcome Center at The Breakers in Newport, and the Gordon College Adams Center for Music, where he is currently serving as Project Architect. His experience spans new construction, renovation, feasibility studies, master planning, and phased design strategies for cultural institutions, colleges, schools, theaters, and community organizations.

In addition to completed work, Robert has led and contributed to planning and design efforts for Boston Symphony, Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, Cape Symphony, Urban Media Arts, Mechanics’ Hall in Portland, Ogunquit Playhouse, Gloucester Stage Company, and other organizations throughout New England and beyond. Across these efforts, Robert is known for helping clients understand project opportunities, constraints, budgets, phasing, and long-term potential while maintaining a strong connection between design intent and project execution.

Robert holds a B.Arch. in Architecture and an A.S. in Architectural Engineering from Wentworth Institute of Technology, with parallel studies in art and architectural history at Massachusetts College of Art and Design. He received the Departmental Thesis Award for Design Excellence in recognition of his thesis while studying at the Technische Universität in Berlin, Germany. Robert has served as a visiting critic in Wentworth’s Interior Design Department and is licensed in Massachusetts, Maine, Missouri, Michigan, and New York.
