PERFORMANCE PAVILION, FITCHBURG REVERFRONT PARK
FITCHBURG, MA

A new Performance Pavilion marking the entrance to the City, will rise like a phoenix out of the newly completed Riverfront Park, celebrating the reemergence of civic life in the central downtown and riverfront area of Fitchburg. As a facility for outdoor performances that can comfortably accommodate an audience of 900, it will provide the basic technical support for a wide range of performance types, including orchestra, concert band, and smaller music, dance, theatre, movie and festival activities. The shape and image of the pavilion will be a unique and meaningful civic icon that makes reference to the City’s specific natural, historic and contemporary heritage: the river, early industrial mills, and a currently emerging high tech industry.
